Childhood discipline is important in shaping law abiding adults who follow rules and do not question authority. However, there are several things that you should not do when you are attempting to properly discipline your children. Do Not Hit Your Child
You should never react in anger or violence to your child. If you hit your child for something that they have done wrong, then as they grow older they will learn to react in violence towards others as well. You cannot hit a child for hitting, and expect them not to do it again.

If you do not follow through with childhood discipline, then you could be setting your child up for failure in later years. In order to teach your child that every bad behavior has a consequence you have to remain consistent in your punishments. Each time that your child does something wrong, there has to be a punishment, or they will just continue to doing it.

Don’t Withhold Affection from Your Child
Some parents believe that it is a good idea to withhold affection form their child when they do something wrong. However, this is a bad idea. All that withholding affection from your child does is teach them that your love comes with a price. They will grow up thinking that if they are not perfect all of the time you will not love them and that is not what you would want for your child.

It can be hard to follow through with childhood discipline, but if you do not learn how to properly discipline your children early in life, they will become unruly later. The three tips above can help you learn how to effectively discipline your children by avoiding harmful behavior.
